As all players of Evony will know, having great Generals to support you is key to doing well in the game. Indeed, on this site, we have covered many of the best available in our Guides. Unfortunately, many of these are only viable to those who get very lucky or are willing to spend a lot of money to get them. As such, here we take a look at the Best Evony Generals for Free Players.

Although these Best Evony Generals for Free Players are normally not as powerful as the premium options, they are relatively easy to obtain without spending a cent. In addition, this also means it is likely you will be able to get copies of them to start Ascending which is key to maximizing their utility.

List of the Best Evony Generals for Free Players

It should be noted that some of these Generals will require you to use Gems to refresh the Tavern. As such, these have only been considered for this list where they are not PvP where you really want a General you can Ascend with duplicate copies. This list will present a mix of different Generals in terms of roles such as Gathering, Ranged PvP, Sub City, Defense, and Duty. Now don’t waste any time and keep reading for our full list of the Best Evony Generals for Free Players.

Queen Jindeok

Queen Jindeok is an absolutely vital General for any free players. Indeed, her Special Skill, Harvest Song, provides a huge 40% bonus from World Map Resource Spots and 20% from Alliance Resource Spots whilst out Gathering. This will be huge in getting the resources you need to build up your armies and upgrade your buildings as you move out of the early game.

In addition to this, she is also available for recruitment from the Tavern. It may take a while to find her but if you refresh enough she will eventually crop up! Ideally, you want to have a Queen Jindeok for each of your Gathering marches. Due to this, it is unlikely you will Ascend her as F2P but that is not completely necessary in this case due to the large buff from her Special Skill alone.

Hannibal

If you want to help out your Alliance with Monster Hunting or if you want to take part in Mounted PvP then Hannibal will be a great option for you as a free Evony player. His Special Skill, Master of Strategy, increases mounted troops’ attack by 15% and increases mounted troops’ attack by a further 20% when he is leading the army to attack. This is a big buff, especially considering this is before any additional upgrading!

Hannibal can be gained by exploring Relics. Although this can be a bit of a grind, it is completely free and you are guaranteed to get him eventually. On top of this, you will be able to keep going once you have him for additional fragments in order to Ascend him. This will add a lot of buffs with, for example, the first ascension level adding a further 10% Mounted Attack and Defense.

Kusunoki Masashige

Kusunoki Masashige is the first Wall Defense General up on our list of the Best Free Evony Generals. He is a Ranged Troop specialist that will see huge buffs to your ranged attack when defending, along with some additional buffs to other troop types which can be very useful if you have a great mix of troops in your keep.

On top of this, he is one of the more easily obtained Generals due to the fact is available both in Relics and in the Tavern. You should therefore have no problem getting multiple copies of him over time allowing you to achieve the highly sought-after Ascension. This includes a good 15% Defense buff to all in-city troops from the first level of Ascension.

Elektra

As a F2P player, you probably can’t do much better than Elektra when it comes to a Ranged PvP General. Her Special Skill, Blood Restrain, increases Ranged Troop attack by 15% when attacking and by a further 20% when she has a Dragon assigned to her. On top of this, she can take a Ranged Attack Skill Book meaning she is already a huge damage dealer even without any big development!

Elektra is also available from Relics meaning you will be able to farm her General Fragments relatively easily as a F2P Evony Player. This should see you Ascending over the long term for even more ranged troop buffs.

John I of Portugal

John I of Portugal is the first Duty General up in this list of the Best Evony Generals for Free Players and with good reason. He is an Archer Camp Officer that will see your Ranged Troop Training Speed increased by 20% and also your Ranged Troop Attack, HP, and Defense all increased by 5% when he is on Duty. This is huge and requires no additional development of the General to achieve.

That final point is extremely important here as he is only available in the Tavern. This means that he would be difficult to Ascend, unless you get very lucky in your Tavern refreshes, but thankfully it is not a necessity with him as you already get a huge benefit simply from his Special Skill.

Abd al-Rahman I

Next up in this list of the Best Evony Generals for F2P players is Abd al-Rahman I. He is another Duty General, but this time with a focus on Ground Troops. When assigned to your Barracks building his Specia Skill, Eagle of Conquest, increases ground troop attack, defense, and HP by 5%, and ground troop training speed by 20%. This is vital for anyone running a big Ground Troop game.

Abd al-Rahman I is available in both the Tavern and from Relics making him very easy to obtain for free Evony players. Although this does mean you will likely be able to ascend him if you really want to it is not completely necessary due to his Special Skill already doing a lot of the heavy lifting. However, there is no harm and it will add many additional buffs to your Ground Troops.

Yi Sun-sin

Yi Sun-sin is another Wall Defense General on this list but this time for players focusing mostly on Mounted Troops. His Special Skill, Commander, increases in-city troops attack by 10% and mounted troop attack by a further 15% when he is the Defense General. With Mounted Attack Skill Book on top of this, he becomes very powerful without much development at all.

Although not amongst the elite in this role, he is very viable for F2P Evony players due to his availability in Relics and therefore a great option especially if you plan Ascend. He is also relatively versatile with him possessing some Ground Troop buffs in addition to the Mounted Troop buffs already mentioned, making him useful for players with a mix of these two Troop Types.

Harald

Harald represents the first Sub City Attack General on this list due to his resourceful ability to debuff all enemy Troop Types you might encounter in PvP. Indeed, his Special Skill, King of the Vikings, reduces all enemy troop attack by 10% and all enemy troop HP by 10%. This is especially useful if you expect to encounter a range of Troop Types with no time to adjust for example in the BoG and BoC.

Unfortunately, Harald is only available in the Tavern which does mean that he will be difficult to Ascend. Despite this, he is still a great pick as his Special Skill already does so much and as a F2P Evony player there aren’t too many other options when it comes to Sub City Attack Generals!

Baibars

One thing is for sure in Evony, you are going to attack a huge amount of Monsters. As such, Baibars is absolutely essential to get, not just for Free Evony players, but for ALL players! His Special Skill, Father of Conquest, increases your Double Items Drop Rate from Monsters by a massive 25%. This is a big deal in terms of building up your economy as fast as possible.

He is only available in the Tavern so you will have to get a little lucky in your refreshes to obtain him and ideally you want to have one for each of your Monster marches in the long run. However, you can also use Cleopatra in the interim as a decent alternative while you wait for more copies of Baibars.

Nathanael Greene

Nathanael Greene is another Evony General that will be very useful for F2P players when it comes to hunting Monsters, in particular, if you keep finding yourself short of stamina. Indeed, his Special Skill, Strategy Expert, reduces the stamina cost of attacking monsters by 25%. This makes a massive difference and may help you stop wasting Gems on stamina refills.

Although only available in the Tavern, meaning Ascension will be difficult without many Gem refreshes, the stamina reduction from his Special Skill is all you really care about meaning Ascension is not necessary at all. This stamina reduction also works when Nathanael Greene is used as an Assistant so having a copy for each of your marches can also be very beneficial.
